An easy Thanksgiving side dish: Cheddar Herb Biscuits 🌿🧀 these were inspired by the infamous red lobster biscuits but made it fall flavors for thanksgiving. I love having a side of carbs with any meal and these are pretty addicting. Don’t say I don’t warn you! Tis the season for baking! 😉
1 stick butter, browned
1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
2 tbsps fresh sage, minced
1 tbsp fresh thyme leaves
2 cups all purpose flour
1 tbsp baking powder
¼ tsp baking soda
1 tsp sugar
½ tsp kosher salt
½ tsp garlic powder
Pinch of black pepper
¾ cup buttermilk (or milk with lemon juice)
In a saucepan, melt the butter on medium high heat until the milk solids start to brown. Turn off heat and add the herbs. Let it sizzle and cool to room temperature.
In a large bowl, add all purpose flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, salt, garlic powder, black pepper and mix well.
Pour in the browned butter, buttermilk, and cheddar cheese. Mix well and pour onto floured surface. Continue kneading until dough sticks together. Flatten with rolling pin until about 1 inch tall and then cut into squares or rectangles, however big you’d like. Brush the top with milk or cream.
Bake at 425 degrees for 14-16 minutes until golden brown. Serve warm with butter. Enjoy!
