Popcorn Chicken and Boba

Popcorn Chicken and Boba is the perfect combo!

Popcorn Chicken

Chicken marinade

3 cloves minced garlic

1 tsp ginger

1 tsp sesame oil

1 tbsp mirin

½ tsp sugar

¼ tsp kosher salt

1/8 tsp black pepper powder

2 tsp Five spice powder

2 tbsp soy sauce

Dredge

1/3 cup white rice flour

3 tbsp cornstarch

1 egg

1 tbsp water

  1. Cut up chicken into bite size pieces and let it marinate for 10 minutes to soak of the flavors

  2. Then coat the chicken in egg + water mixture and dredge it in the white rice flour. Shake it around to make sure the batter is evenly distributed.

  3. Fry in a high smoke point oil, 3 minutes

  4. Dust with more 5 spice powder

  5. Fry up Thai basil for a few seconds

Boba

1/4 cup tapioca boba pearls

1 tbsp brown sugar

  1. Simmer boba and brown sugar, cover and cook up for 20 minutes.

  2. Strain boba into a cup. Sweeten with maple syrup, or your choice of sweetener.

  3. Add ice.

  4. Pour in the mango nectar, black tea, and top off with a splash of whole milk.
